First-time setup: what to check after installing Print

  • 0

Open the plugin as root (or the panel administrator) and go to Settings:

  1. Lifecycle days: when to notify, suspend and remove, counted from detection. Defaults are 7, 30 and 60 days.
  2. Automatic suspension / automatic removal: switch either off if you would rather act by hand.
  3. Email delivery: an SMTP mailbox is strongly recommended over the server mailer. Press Test connection, then Save.
  4. Send from and Root notices go to: the From address on notices, and where notices for root-owned accounts go.
  5. Trusted nameservers: Cloudflare is trusted by default. Add your own nameservers so domains using them always count as active.
  6. Excluded owners: resellers whose accounts should never be scanned.

No notice is sent until an account has been inactive for the number of days you set, so you have time to review the first list.

Leave at least 30 days between suspension and removal. If an account is wrongly detected as inactive, suspension is usually what makes its owner get in touch; a month gives them time to do so before anything is deleted. The defaults (suspend on day 30, remove on day 60) already do this.

Before switching on automatic removal, make sure you have working backups of every account (see Backups: why you need them).
